System requirements for HTML5 Help
The HTML5 Online Help uses modern web technologies such as responsive design. This makes it possible to support different end terminals with different display resolutions such as laptops, tablets, even smartphones.
To ensure that the help function is displayed quickly, we recommend at least a dual-core processor with a basic clock speed of 1.7 GHz and installation on flash memories such as an SSD. Depending on the browser, the number of open tabs and the operating system, the display of the HTML5 Help consumes about 75-300 MB RAM. JavaScript must be activated for functions such as Search and the menu.
Attention
Support for Internet Explorer (IE) discontinued
Support for Microsoft Internet Explorer was discontinued when the Bootstrap framework was updated by Release 5.x. It was replaced by the Microsoft Edge browser and is no longer developed or supported by security updates.
To obtain the best view, we recommend the following desktop browsers
(the last tested version in brackets):
- Google Chrome 64bit (Version 109.0.5414.120) (64-bit)
- Microsoft Edge based on the Chromium Engine by Google (current version)
- Mozilla Firefox 64bit (Version 109 or ESR 91.4.0. Tip: If possible, use the so-called ESR version; ESR stands for Extended Support Release).
- Apple Safari (current version)
Notice
Note on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox
Due to the frequent and rapid release cycles of both browsers, it cannot always be ensured that the HTML Help will work as intended. We look forward to receiving your feedback (Contact) should this be the case with a browser version.
Mobile browsers for smartphones and tablets:
- Android Stock Browser (Android as of V11)
- Apple iOS/iPadOS Safari
- Chrome for Android
- Firefox for Android
- Opera Mobile
The following (mobile) browsers are NOT recommended due to display problems/poor performance:
- Android Stock Browser (older than Android 11, released on 8 September 2020)
- Apple iOS Safari (older than Version 14, released on 16 September 2020)
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (all versions)
- Microsoft Edge before the switch to Chromium Engine from Google
- Microsoft IE Mobile
Please note that unknown interactions may occur because of program/operating system updates. The browsers listed above with version note are therefore no guarantee for a perfect display, but are recommended at the time of writing this HTML5 documentation.
