ISG-virtuos is the simulation platform that enables you to develop and use the digital twin of your machine or plant consistently from model-in-the-loop simulation (MiLS), via software-in-the-loop simulation (SiLS) to hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HiLS).

Compact mobile workstations can be used for MiLS, which can also be used in acquisition. Motion sequences can be defined and tested. Thus, MiLS supports the early planning phase of the engineering process.

For simulation with software control systems (SiLS) like KUKA.OfficeLite or PLCSIM Advanced, even common notebook solutions can be used in combination with ISG-virtuos. Here it is possible to perform simulations in Windows real time (>10ms) using a Windows solver. Especially for mobile use, e.g. for customer meetings, presentations, trainings and for acquisition, this is of considerable advantage. With this form of simulation, no special hardware is required for execution, just as with the hardware control connection via TCP/IP, since here communication does not take place via the fieldbus in time with the control.

For the connection of real fieldbus participants via real fieldbus systems (Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation), on the other hand, dedicated simulation hardware and a real-time operating system are required in order to run simulations in deterministic real-time (<1ms). The unique selling point of the ISG-virtuos 3 simulation solution is the possibility to completely simulate the entire machine and plant model on a real-time target in time with the control system. ISG offers two different ISG real-time targets for this purpose, which are also ideally suited for mobile use due to their compact design.

We have developed the ISG Real-Time Target B&R especially for machines and systems with B&R controllers. This enables lossless and clock-synchronous real-time physics simulation and the associated virtual commissioning of machines and systems via POWERLINK and including POWERLINK Safety.

B&R Automation Studio projects can thus be easily and quickly transferred to ISG-virtuos using our workflows and used for simulation without having to make any changes to the project. 

The computationally intensive simulation model is calculated on this ISG Realtime Target and relieves the simulation computer. The latter is thus fully available for the modeling, operation and visualization of the simulation model.
