The ISG-MCP is a PLC function block library for commissioning the ISG Motion Control Engine. It provides the function blocks, data structures and state models defined in the PLCopen specification parts 1, 2 and 4.
The ISG-MCP thus enables the PLC application programmer to program motion tasks according to the PLCopen standard within an IEC 6-1131 PLC. All functions necessary for motion generation, such as interpolation, position control, operation of the drive interfaces, etc., remain hidden from the PLC application programmer.
The motion generation is performed by the ISG Motion Control Engine (ISG-kernel) and thus enables, beyond the functional scope of the single axis movements according to PLCopen parts 1 and 2, a wide CNC function spectrum, e.g. also the functions for path interpolation according to PLCopen part 4.
In addition to the function blocks specified in PLCopen, the ISG-MCP also offers a variety of other function blocks that are required for the automation of plant systems. Detailed information can be found in the documentation of the "ISG Motion Control Platform for PLCopen".
Currently, the ISG-MCP supports the following PLC programming systems:
- CoDeSys (3S-Smart Software Solutions GmbH)
- Multiprog (PHOENIX CONTACT Software GmbH)
